School Tours

At 3J, we believe in giving back to the community by inspiring the next generation of makers and innovators. That’s why we actively participate in school fairs and offer guided tours of our machine shop to public, charter, and homeschool students. For ages 10-18.

During these tours, students get a hands-on learning experience as they rotate through three key stations: Material & Organization, Machining, and Quality Control.

  • Material & Organization: Students observe how raw materials are selected, prepared, and cut for various jobs, gaining insight into the foundation of the manufacturing process.

  • Machining: Here, students get introduced to CNC machines and Mastercam software. They even create their own trinket and take home the accompanying blueprint as a keepsake.

  • Quality Control: At this station, students learn how to measure parts using our CMM technology and gain an understanding of its critical role in precision manufacturing.

After completing the rotations, all students regroup for a Q&A session with our project managers and machinists, giving them the opportunity to dive deeper into the world of machining and manufacturing.

By offering these engaging, educational experiences, 3J is proud to spark curiosity and provide real-world exposure to careers in advanced manufacturing, and creating the next generation of great members to society.

Mentorships/ Interns

  • At 3J, we are committed to fostering the next generation of skilled professionals through our mentorship programs. We believe that hands-on guidance and real-world experience are key to building confidence and expertise in the machining and manufacturing industry. Our mentorships pair students and aspiring machinists with seasoned professionals who provide one-on-one coaching, technical training, and career advice.

  • Whether it’s learning the intricacies of CNC programming, mastering precision measurements, or understanding workflow efficiency, our mentors are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and passion.

  • By investing in mentorship, 3J helps bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring that future generations have the skills and support needed to succeed in high-demand careers.

School Fairs

At 3J, we take pride in actively engaging with students through school fairs and educational partnerships, including our collaboration with P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School). By participating in school fairs, we introduce students to the exciting world of advanced manufacturing, showcasing career pathways and hands-on opportunities in the industry. Our partnership with P-TECH goes even further, providing students with direct exposure to real-world machining, engineering, and quality control processes. Through mentorship, and hands-on training, we help P-TECH students develop the technical skills and industry knowledge they need to succeed. By fostering these connections, 3J is committed to empowering the next generation with the tools, experience, and confidence to build a bright future in manufacturing.
